CROZET, Va. (AP) - Albemarle County authorities are refusing to provide details about a shooting in which they say a juvenile fatally shot a 10-year-old girl, but church officials say the victim is the daughter of a Crozet pastor.

The Virginia Church of God says the girl is the daughter of Paul and Anne Hollifield. Paul Hollifield is the pastor of Victory Hill Church of God in Crozet.

Albemarle County Police spokeswoman Carter Johnson says the investigation is ongoing and the department is unable to release more information on the shooting, including the age of the male or whether he was related to the girl.

The girl died at the scene of Tuesday morning's shooting.

Support and Prayer for the Hollifield Family

Tuesday morning, a fatal accident took the life of 10 year old Maggie Hollifield, the daughter of Pastor Paul and Anne Hollifield from the Crozet, Victory Hill Church of God in Virginia.

Please pray that the comfort of the Holy Spirit will be with Paul and Anne, their children, and the entire extended family as they cope with this tragic loss.

The family has humbly requested that you limit your publication of this tragedy to the information provided here. Out of respect for the family, we also ask that you limit your contact with the Hollifields at this time so that they may properly mourn the loss of their daughter.

Many people have asked what they can do to assist the family. Pastor Paul and Anne have requested that instead of sending flowers, you may make a donation to a special fund to send children to youth camp (who otherwise could not afford to go). Virginia's Youth Camp was one of Maggie's favorite places in the world. They both feel this would be a fitting way to honor her memory. If you would like to donate to this fund, simply visit https://www.vacog.org/contributionsnew.php and select Maggie Hollifield Youth Camp Scholarship Fund.

On behalf of the Hollifields, if you would like to assist them personally with funeral cost and allow them to go on a trip for counseling and healing purposes, please visit https://www.vacog.org/contributionsnew.php and select Hollifield Family Care Fund.

If you wish to send your contribution by check, please make it payable to "Church of God State Fund" with the specific fund listed above noted on the remarks section of your check. Mail it to PO Box 7547; Roanoke, VA 24019.

Show your support and receive information as to how you can assist the family by joining, on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/456491841100172/?notif_t=plan_user_joined

Let's OVERWHELM this family with LOVE and SUPPORT during this difficult time.
