Augusta County Murder Investigation Continues

Augusta County authorities are investigating a weekend murder. Now, a search warrant obtained is revealing new details about the crime.

According to the document, authorities have a suspect in custody relating to the body found in Verona on Saturday.

The warrant issued is for a trailer in Verona making reference to a Donald Johnson, who was questioned Friday for his connection to a hit and run in Staunton.

The affidavit says Johnson was observed by deputies as having a jacket with blood on it along with bloody sneakers, hands, and fingers.

"I'll just be more alert for awhile, but no, those things happen everywhere and I'm not about to judge the community over that," said Roger Austin.

According to the warrant, the man stabbed was J.W. Sword. The sheriff's office is expected to release more information following an autopsy on Monday.
