Va. Educators Meet to Share Ideas,Techniques

July 30, 2013

Leaders from across the Commonwealth are meeting for the Smart Beginnings Leader Institute.

The institute helps teachers involved in early-childhood education learn from each other by sharing ideas and experiences.

Organizers say there is a gap in early-childhood education, and teachers need to learn new skills and techniques.

"This is very hands-on," says John Thomas with the Early Childhood Foundation. "They're in there right now sharing with each other, what are the barriers in my community, and others are saying, that used to be a barrier for us, we figured out how to deal with that."

The seven-month program is hosted by the Early Childhood Foundation.
