A group of residents are saying no to increased housing in their neighborhood.
The owner of three adjacent houses at the corner of Carlton Avenue and Chestnut Street wants to re-zone the land for commercial use and more housing--10 units to be exact. One neighbor said he hopes it will increase land value, but others don't want to see their neighborhoods change.
"I really don't think it would be a good thing for Belmont. I think Belmont is a unique neighborhood. It's the oldest neighborhood in Charlottesville and it's the most amazing place. Iit's my favorite place in Virginia, and I don't want to see it change," said former Belmont resident Hannah Morgan.
The Charlottesville Planning Commission chose to table the discussion until they get more information.
