One Madison County teacher got some big news this week.

Joyce Lindsey, the cosmetology instructor at Madison County High School received the 2005 National Outstanding New Teacher of the Year Award.

The plaque came in the mail Tuesday, and Lindsey says it's an honor to be recognized for something she loves doing.

"My goal is to be the best and for my students to be better than me," said Lindsey. "We reflect pride and I just always want the best for the students. If they do their part, then that makes my part complete."

The plaque was awarded by the Trade and Industry Division of the Association of Career and Technical Education.
