Attorneys take another step in the appeals process for former University of Virginia lacrosse player George Huguely, who is currently serving time for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love.
Appeals attorneys for Huguely filed paperwork with the Virginia Court of Appeals on Thursday, claiming their client did not receive a fair trial. As they have said before, they claim the judge rushed the case even while one of Huguely’s attorneys was ill, and that there were errors in jury selection.
The state has until September 3rd to respond.
Huguely is currently serving a 23-year sentence in state prison.
