Since the Super Bowl is the most-watched television event of the year, millions of Americans will upgrade their sets in time for the big game. More consumers are migrating to better technology, and High Definition TVs are the best-selling Superbowl TVs this year, making fans feel they are closer to the action.

"You've spent a whole year watching your teams dwindle down to see who the best is," said Bill Tidball, a football fan.

Just like many other football fans, Bill Tidball can't watch that final big game without the big screen TV.

"Sports are definitely a contributing factor to TV sales. We do see slight spikes in our sales during big sporting events," said Jude DeFrank, of Crutchfield.

Since the Super Bowl is the most-watched television event of the year, millions of Americans will upgrade their sets in time for the game.

High Definition is the big one this year. Tidball said it makes him feel like he's cheering along with the crowd.

"You can see a lot more detail but it's also more like being at the game," said Tidball.

Jude DeFrank from Crutchfield said sometimes bigger isn't always better depending on the size of the room.

"A big screen is relative to the room size, so we want to be very careful to get the right TV for the right room and we have a mathematical formula that we can use," said DeFrank.

We can't forget about the budget. HD TVs with a built in tuner can go from $899 and up. But Tidball said even though his favorite team isn't playing this year, watching Super Bowl XL on one of these is well worth it.

"If you're a football fan, then pro-football is where it's at," said Tidball.

If you want that big screen TV for the big game, it is not too late. More stores will still deliver the TVs before Superbowl Sunday. Consumer electronics associates say if you are in the market for one, now is the time to get it. A lot of stores usually offer big discounts right around Superbowl time.
