Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Denise Lunsford has found herself at the center of a court case.

The case alleges a former lover posted nude photos of Lunsford online and that she watched a movie in her home with Christopher Dumler, the former Albemarle Supervisor convicted of sexual battery.

According to a September 23rd article in Virginia Lawyers Weekly, Lunsford filed a protection order against Missouri attorney David Cosgrove on September 12, saying he harassed her by posting the nude and semi-nude pictures on Twitter.

According to the article, Cosgrove responded by saying Lunsford is trying to keep him from disclosing what he calls repeated misconduct on Lunsford's part.

Both Lunsford and Cosgrove's court filings mentioned Lunsford allowing a man she had charged with sodomy to watch a movie in her home with her child present.

Cosgrove identified that man as Chris Dumler.

On Tuesday, Lunsford released this statement to the Newsplex:

"All relationships undergo times of stress. During such a period, while my partner and I were separated, I allowed the situation which has led to the court action in Missouri to arise. I accept full responsibility for what happened and deeply regret the pain it has caused my family. I am grateful that we are working through this as a couple and as a family.

If I were not a public figure this would have been a private matter but, sadly, the other party was hurt and angry at my decision to return to my family and chose to retaliate by harassing me publicly. I was left with no choice but to institute the Missouri proceedings. It is my hope that I and my family will be allowed to deal with this in private."

The article states a hearing is scheduled for October 3rd.
