It was shoes galore at the Salvation Army on Friday. They've been collecting used shoes for the past few weeks. The annual event provides shoes for anyone who needs them. Volunteers sorted about six-thousand men, women and children’s shoes for Saturday's distribution.
"We've collected approximately 60 or 70,000 shoes over the past years, but this has definitely outstripped any other effort we've had," said Sandy Schustek, Organizer, The Salvation Army.
The shoes will be distributed on Friday at the Salvation Army on Ridge Street from 10 am. until 12 p.m.
