The four teens charged with plotting to blow up two Albemarle County high schools will be tried as juveniles.
Three of the four teens appeared in juvenile court today for a hearing. The defense and the Commonwealth both argued more time was needed to continue mental evaluations before the teens face trial.
Commonwealth Attorney Jim Camblos restated the seriousness of the charges but said he decided to try the teens as juveniles citing their age and lack of prior convictions. Camblos said the goal is to help get these kids lives in order.
The trial will be on March 8, 2006 and the teens will continue to be held at the Blue Ridge Detention Center until then.
