Charlottesville police are looking for a man who shot at a moving car Saturday night.

Police say the incident appears to have started in the 1300 block of West Main Street around 9:30 p.m. when two drivers exchanged words.

After the exchange, one of the drivers began to follow the other driver away from West Main Street and onto Jefferson Park Avenue.

The male driver of a light-colored vehicle fired a gun, striking the victim’s car as it was traveling west in the 1500 block of Jefferson Park Avenue.

Police say the suspect was last seen traveling north on Emmet Street.

Police have no further description of the suspect or his vehicle.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.

Charlottesville police are investigating a report of shots fired in the city.

Police responded to the 1500 and 1600 blocks of Jefferson Park Avenue Saturday night after the call came in shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Police blocked off some streets in the area for their investigation.
