Former Boy Scout Leader Pleading Guilty to Dozens of Charges

Jan. 22, 2014

A plea deal is in the works for a former Albemarle County Boy Scout leader accused of sexually abusing children.

On Wednesday morning, 50y-year-old David Brian Watkins began pleading guilty to 36 individual charges.

Watkins originally pleaded not guilty to more than 70 charges, and a trial date was set for April.

Today’s plea deal avoids a trial by jury, as well as victims of abuse from having to testify in court.
