Albemarle County Police believe they have arrested three men in connection with a series of auto thefts around the County.

It all started on Monday when an Albemarle County officer located a stolen Toyota Camry on Old Brook Road. Officers then received another call for a stolen car from Brown's Automotive.

Just a short time later, they recovered that stolen car from the parking lot at Fashion Square Mall. The next day, police recovered a third car. Evidence from all three stolen cars led to the arrest of three suspects in this case.

Police served warrants on the three suspects on Tuesday, arresting 18-year-olds Michael Ramsey and Earnest Gaines from Albemarle County and 20-year-old Steven Faulkner who has no fixed address.

All three were charged with three counts of motor vehicle theft and two counts of conspiring to commit motor vehicle theft. Ramsey was also charged with two counts of obtaining or withholding a credit card number.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the three suspects. They have reason to believe they could be responsible for other auto thefts dating back to August 2005.
