There is no such thing as a free lunch, but thanks to the University of Virginia there is such a thing as a free ride.
For the month of April, UVa students can ride any CTS bus for free. The Charlottesville Transit Service is teaming up with UVa to test this pilot program. UVa is footing the bill to see if there's a demand for bus service around the city.
"If there is [a demand] and the University is willing down the road, we can adopt this as full time program," said Charles Petty, of CTS.
Right now UVa students must transfer from a University Transit Service bus before they can ride a CTS bus. But with this program students just have to show their photo ID card in order to get a free ride on a CTS bus.
