One man has been charged relating to a standoff that happened Friday night at a business along Route 29.

Albemarle County Police announced the arrest Sunday of 32-year-old Richard Barracks of Esmont. He was detained by police on Friday, but he now faces a felony charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The arrest stems from a four-hour ordeal on Friday night at the Brown Collision Center on Route 29. Employees reported a man entered the business with a gun. They evacuated and were able to trap the suspect inside.

Crisis negotiators helped diffuse the situation, and no one was injured in the process.

Barracks is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
