A driver is okay after a tree wrapped in live power lines crashed onto his truck during a storm Monday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 4 p.m. in the 2400-block of Jefferson Park Avenue.

Power was cut in the area so rescue crews could safely remove the driver trapped inside.

Greg Bugg was the only person inside the truck. He says he saw a flash of lightning hit a tree and the next thing he knew, it was on his windshield.

"I'm blessed. I don't believe in luck. The good Lord saved me," said Bugg.

Battalion Chief Rich Jones says the weather made it difficult for crews once they arrived.

"There was high winds and a heavy thunderstorm cell in the area at the time. We also had to use precaution while responding because it was raining very heavily," said Jones.

Fire Chief Charles Werner says the new facility on Fontaine Avenue helped cut down response time for this incident from eight minutes to just two.
