Congressman Virgil Goode applauded the efforts of several local companies for supporting their military employees.
It was part of a luncheon at UVa's Darden School.
The Virginia Military Support Cooperation sponsored the event.
Goode says those who serve should feel secure knowing they can come back to the same job.
"Without their support in the form of availability of jobs when the reservists and guards people come back it would be a negative, most of them make it a very positive situation," said Goode.
Federal law requires employers to give guard and reserve employees their jobs back once they return.
