New charges have been filed and a court appearance occurred today for the teen accused in a Charlottesville gang beating.
The 16-year-old charged in this case was denied bond this afternoon. The Commonwealth says he's a danger to the community, especially now that he is facing additional charges for assaulting a second teen.
Two teenagers now say the defendant allegedly asked them if they wanted to join the gang "The Bloods" and that when they refused they were beaten by a group of men wearing red.
Both incidents happened within minutes and blocks of Fourth St. SE Friday night. A red bandana was recovered near the scene.
The 16-year-old now faces two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, two gang related charges, and a robbery charge.
We are also learning tonight that one of the victims under-went surgery today and had so many fractures in his jaw that he needed two metal plates inserted in his face.
The teen charged in this case is also currently facing burglary charges in Albemarle County.
