A family of three in Fluvanna County now has a place to call home thanks to the helping hands from habitat for humanity.
On Saturday family, friends and the Fluvanna County Habitat came together to welcome a family into their new home, with three bedrooms and two full baths.
This is the first time the Fluvanna Co. Habitat has built a floor plan like this one and it was also the first time for the women build, where over 175 women helped put the home together.
“This is when we turn a house into a home,” says Michael Himes, president of the Fluvanna Co. Habitat. “Delicia Payne and her family will be moving in shortly and today we are going to bless the house so it is ready for them to take occupancy.”
“It's a big change from seeing the first walls go up to now seeing everything completed and I'm really ready to start decorating and have family gatherings,” says Delicia Payne, new home owner.
This is the 17th house built by the Fluvanna Co. Habitat. They are also preparing for another build in the fall that will be right next door to the new house.
