One fire company in Orange can boast that its volunteers are the best in the state.
The Orange Volunteer Fire Company won the annual Virginia State Firefighters Convention earlier this month in Hampton, and Sunday, they showed off their award winning skills.
The fire-fighters from Orange broke records this year and beat out around 30 teams to win for the 11th time in twelve years.
They are all volunteers and they get nearly 700 calls a year. Plus, many of these volunteers had fathers and grandfathers in the company.
"You can go anywhere in the state and people will ask where are you from? I'll say Orange Volunteer Fire Company and they'll say oh I know that. It's great. It means a whole lot to a small town with a small volunteer company," said Fire Chief Clements.
During the demonstration Sunday, firefighters actually broke one of their own records.
President Ron Lloyd says the reason they do so well in competition is because they get so many calls a year, which means they are always practicing.
