A former Albemarle High School girl’s soccer coach sits in the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail awaiting a bond hearing after being indicted on child pornography charges.
Police found digital pictures, movies and Internet chats with children as young as 12-years-old, on Raja Jabbour's home and work computers. So far, he has been indicted on child porn charges, but the U.S. Attorney's Office said more charges may be pending.
This isn't the first time he's been caught. Back in 2004, Jabbour was arrested for traveling to Ohio to meet up with a child, who turned out to be an undercover officer.
During this time he was employed as an Assistant Junior Varsity Soccer Coach at Albemarle High School.
Red flags were raised in 2002 when he was dismissed as a coach for the Soccer Organization of Charlottesville-Albemarle because of ethical violations. From there he reportedly went on to start up the Monticello United Soccer Club.
Albemarle High School released him as coach just three weeks ago. The Superintendent said the school will fully cooperate with the investigation.
A representative from the Monticello United Soccer Club said before Jabbour got his coaching job, he went through a federal background check and they found nothing at the time.
Jabbour's attorney had no comment.
The Judge wanted to release Jabbour on $50,000 bond but the U.S. Attorney's Office said they have filed an appeal. Until the hearing is set, Jabbour will remain in jail.
