Flowers mark the site where a star high school lacrosse player lost his life in a tragic car accident this weekend. He was killed in a car crash on Jefferson Parkway around 10 p.m. on Friday. Police say they still have questions that need to be answered concerning the accident that killed 17-year-old Nolan Jenkins.
Jenkins was a star athlete on the Albemarle County High School's lacrosse team and was headed to Christopher Newport University to play lacrosse this fall. Over the weekend, police have learned that an underage party with alcohol was taking place not far from the scene of the accident. Jenkins was at that party for a short time just before he lost control of his SUV.
Police arrested 11 people at that party for underage drinking a short time after Jenkins' accident. But tonight police say they want to know who supplied the alcohol.
"We're just trying to identify the possible source where the alcohol came from. We may or may not be able to identify that source," said Sergeant Pam Greenwood of the Albemarle County Police. "We're asking anybody with information to please contact the police department, or we may follow-up with questions with some of the people that were at the party, to try and get that answered."
Greenwood also says that if a person did supply the alcohol, they could face charges. She would not say exactly what that charge could be.
