Another underage party prompted police arrest some high school students in Albemarle County.

Over a dozen teenagers were issued citations by Albemarle County Police after they were caught reveling at an underage drinking party and bonfire over the weekend.

There were 16 students in all. The majority of them are members of the Western Albemarle Boy's and Girl's lacrosse and soccer teams.

If the party involving teenagers and alcohol did not shock you, then maybe the fact that it also involved marijuana, and was held in the presence of two of the party-goers' parents.

Albemarle County Police arrested and charged 16 students with underage possession of alcohol. The arrests took place in the 6000 block of Hillsboro Lane in Crozet early Sunday morning.

Police say one of the party-goers was a 16-year-old.

Police say the parents of the 16-year-old and others attending did arrive at the scene and cooperated during the arrests. Police said they took beer and liquor along with marijuana away from the scene which was near a bonfire.

"There was nothing really happening right out front. They went around to the side, and to the back where the discovered several juveniles taking off running. The officers ended up corralling a couple of the kids, and ended up speaking to the parents who held the party," said Lieutenant John Teixeira of the Albemarle County Police Department.

The APD is talking with the Albemarle County Commonwealth's Attorney's office to find out if the parents who were at the party could be charged for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The remainder of their soccer and lacrosse seasons at Western Albemarle High School is expected to continue as planned for now.

Albemarle County Police say it was a busy weekend. In fact, they actually busted another underage drinking party in the Willoughby community. Three teens were arrested there.
