The Cavs weren't able to add another win to their record Saturday night, but all in all the fans said they were there to have a great day at the ballpark.
"I think we want national aspirations today, we want to be a national power," said Gary Westmoreland, a staff member at Davenport Field.
While that aspiration wasn't decided yet on Saturday, UVA still had the rest of the tournament to prove whether or not they could make it to the super regionals.
"(If we could) go to a super regional would be great," said Alex Kuehler, a UVA fan.
"I think they have a great shot to win the regionals and go to the super regionals, and who knows from there," said Richie Williams, another UVA fan. "It's the best two out of three, we might be Omaha bound."
Saturday fans were happy to be out rooting on the Cavaliers. Cooler weather and a nice breeze made for a picture-perfect day of baseball.
Westmoreland isn't just a UVA fan. He was also working at Davenport Field Saturday for the triple header. He's had been there since 8:30 in the morning, but he said it was one of the best places to spend his Saturday.
"I think this is one of the hidden gems of Charlottesville in terms of the athletic and artistic competition," said Westmoreland. "I think personally baseball has an artistry to it."
It seemed that everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of that artistry. From the private boxes, to the bleachers, to the hillsides around davenport, people filled up any spot where they could see the action.
And one fan had some advice for locals who hadn't made it out to a game yet.
"Definitely come out. Definitely," said Kuehler. "It's great to see UVA play and definitely if you see them play, maybe for the championship here at this regional, it would be great."
