Police are trying to figure out exactly what happened this morning that left one man dead, and another behind bars.

It was in a neighborhood on South First Street where an argument took place at about 3:00 Sunday morning that left 21-year-old Lamont Antonio Reaves dead.

Staff from the UVa medical center emergency room alerted 9-1-1 dispatchers Sunday morning to receiving two victims of gun shot wounds.

21-year-old Lamont Antonio Reaves of Charlottesville suffered wounds to the abdomen and later died at the hospital. A second female victim, whose name has yet to be released, suffered injuries as well but hers are considered non life-threatening.

Shortly after that call, another call came into 9-1-1 by a man later identified as Jermaine Leon Thurston. Thurston admitted to being involved in a shooting and, after giving officials his location, was quickly taken into custody.

Thurston has been charged with one count of 2nd degree murder, one count of malicious wounding, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a crime. Officials have refused to make any statements about the investigation until Monday and neighbors are remaining quiet as well.

Tonight Thurston is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
