Albemarle County Police say they are looking for a man in connection with the armed robbery of the Pantops SunTrust Bank on Saturday morning.

They have released six photos of the man they believed robbed the bank. These photos show the man entering the bank with a bag on his shoulder, setting it down on the floor and then leaving the bank with a white cloth near his face.

Later, he called back telling an employee that he left several bags, telling the clerk to fill one of them with money and leave it outside. He also stated that there was a bomb in one of the bags and that he would be watching to make sure that no one came or went from the building. If someone did, he threatened to detonate the package.

Police cordoned off the area. An employee at the Applebee's recalls police telling her to vacate the building.

"I had an officer come in and inform us that it was serious situation and they were concerned for our safety; they couldn't guarantee us our safety," said Assistant General Manager Felicia Gutshall.

After several hours, Albemarle County Police, along with the FBI and Virginia State Police were able to evacuate the building safely, ending the threat.

Initially, police believed that the bomb in the bag was live. After further examination, it appears it posed no threat, as it was not a working bomb.

If you have any information about this case, you are asked to call Albemarle County Police, (434) 296-5807.
