The game ball to be used in Saturday's match-up between Virginia and Virginia Tech begins its journey to Blacksburg, and it's getting there on foot.

The FIJI fraternity chapters at UVA and Virginia Tech are showing some brotherly love as they start the sixth annual Run Across Virginia event to raise money for cancer research.

The UVA brothers start their run at Scott Stadium. Eventually the game ball will end up at Lane Stadium.

Kevin Dowlen, Philanthropy Chair at FIJI said, "We have the game ball for the game between Virginia and Virginia Tech tomorrow. We're going to take it, and we're going to run it relay style down U.S. 29 from here to Lynchburg where we meet the brothers from Virginia Tech, and they're going to take it from Lynchburg to Blacksburg. It feels good because you know we're doing something for the greater good."

So far, FIJI's chapter at UVA has raised $180,000 for the Jimmy V Foundation.

The brothers say cancer has impacted everyone's life somehow, and it's reassuring to know they can help the fight.
