Impaired Driver Involved in Multiple Crashes on Route 29

Albemarle County Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash at Seminole Trail and Proffit Road involving a potential impaired driver.

The Emergency Communications Center received calls around 8:40am Saturday morning regarding a possible DUI driver in a red truck, traveling northbound on Route 29 in the area of Hollymead.

At around 8:45am, Albemarle County Police received calls about a four-vehicle crash with multiple injuries at the intersection of Seminole Trail and Proffit Road.

Two of those injured were transported to the UVa Medical Center with minor injuries.

The suspected impaired driver of the red truck was involved in the accident and fled the scene. The truck was followed as it traveled along Proffit Road, where it struck a fourth vehicle. The truck then crashed in the 3500 block of Pritchett Lane, causing property damage.

Genesis Crawford II, 35, of Pritchett Lane was transported to UVa Medical Center with minor injuries and was charged with DUI, his second offense in 10 years, and driving with a revoked license.

Albemarle County Police say additional charges are pending investigation and ask that anyone with information contact the Albemarle County Police Department at 434-296-5807.
