A Charlottesville man, who said he killed another man in self-defense, has been indicted by a grand jury on second degree murder charges.

The 22-year-old told police he shot and killed Laymont Reaves during a fight on South 1st Street in June, 2006.

The Commonwealth says there was no evidence the defendant tried to leave the fight before shooting.

His court date is set for January 2nd, 2006. It will be a four-day jury trial.
