Concerns about the stock market are very real for many people who are retired, or about to retire, in our community.
Many people are worried the recession will take away the money they had set aside to live on in their later years.
The Senior Center and the Senior Statesmen of Virginia hosted a seminar on the financial crisis to talk about these concerns.
University of Virginia economics teacher, Edwin Burton, addressed community members about what they can expect in the future.
\Marvin Hilton, President of the Senior Statesmen of VA said, "They can expect to learn from an expert where he thinks the crisis is going to end. Is it going to end soon or is it going to be a long term situation."
Burton is the former head of the Virginia Retirement System.
