The Charlottesville Fire Department handled a kitchen fire on Rose Hill Drive Tuesday morning.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Rose Hill Drive near Jackson P. Burley Middle School. Six units from the fire department were able to put the fire out within a few minutes. The fire started inside the kitchen of a building that holds three apartments.
The woman who lived inside the apartment where the fire took place was able to get out without being hurt. Other residents in the nearby apartment were also able to get out without any problems. The fire did not spread into their apartments. The fire did not threaten Burley Middle School.
The Charlottesville Police Department blocked traffic, so firefighters could work safely in the streets while putting the fire out.
The Charlottesville Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
