Members of the Sierra Club publicly endorsed Al Weed for congress Monday in a news conference on the Downtown Mall. The club, which works to protect the natural environment, presented Weed with a $1000 dollar check as contribution to his campaign for congress.

"Al has made very selfless commitments to insure that wilderness areas and climate and so on will be protected so we think he is a very on the ball guy," explained Tom Olivier from the Piedmont area Sierra Club.

"We'll I've been a member of the Sierra Club, for a number of years, don't know, how long and I've worked with them on projects", added Al Weed, Democratic Candidate for Congress.

Weed is an advocate for the environment and one issue he's working on is protecting central Virginia against rampant growth and development.
