For those commuting between northern Albemarle County and Charlottesville one of the routes will have significant delays Tuesday and Wednesday.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane at the Norfolk Southern railroad bridge between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
VDOT will be drilling to test the soil and rock with plans to eventually widen the bridge at what will be the section of East Rio Road and the Meadowcreek Parkway.
Drivers are urged to take alternative routes including the 250 Bypass, University Avenue, or Proffit Road.
The work was originally scheduled for last month, but had to be to be rescheduled because of equipment failures.
