Heating bills are expected to be slightly lower this winter, with the biggest savings for those who use natural gas.
According to the Energy Department, natural gas users should save an average of over $100 this upcoming winter. Propane users can expect to pay $15 less this winter, which is a drop of 1%.
"Overall, we are looking at about a 5% decline in the average expenditures for energy this winter for heating on a national average,” said Guy Caruso, from the Energy Information Administration.
If you still need assistance paying your home heating bill, applications are now being accepted for the Charlottesville Fuel Assistance Program. The deadline for income-eligible households is November 13th.
