The Albemarle Board of Supervisors have agreed to help fund a portion of Scottsville's streetscape project.
The board decided to give Scottsville up to $251,000 to complete its long-planned renovation of the main business district. That's half the amount town officials originally requested.
"It's a wise investment because the citizens will reap the dividends to increase sales and that means more tax money coming in," said Lindsay Dorrier, Jr., an Albemarle County board member representing Scottsville.
Both Valley Street and East Main Street will be modernized when the project is finished.
