"Thinking outside the box" was the motto for kids Saturday at UVa's Museum of Art. Children were encouraged to express themselves through creative outlets at the Multi-Arts Family Festival.
Activities included making word collages and performing monologues and movement based activities like dancing. Organizers say their goal was to increase creativity in all aspects of life.
"It allows them to find other ways of thinking and problem solving and seeing how the world works and so I think the arts allow for children and adults to look at the world with a different lens," said Jennifer Van Winkle, Education Program Director.
The festival was in celebration of the 20th year for "The Writer's Eye," a writing competition for poetry and prose.
