The Charlottesville organization, Meals on Wheels, is breaking records.
They delivered hot meals to over 4,000 needy people in one month. However, organizers said they can't do it alone. They are in desperate need of volunteers to keep up with the large demand that seems to be steadily increasing every year.
"We want to make sure that when we deliver a hot lunchtime meal that it is a hot meal and so we need to keep our delivery routes down. We don't want to have someone delivering to 15 people because that means number 15 gets a cold meal, so we need more volunteers so that we can split the routes," said Executive Director Mandy Hoy, of Meals on Wheels.
Each volunteer driver donates an hour-and-a-half of their time once a week.
