Proffit Road Closure, Power Outage

Virginia Department of Transportation crews are working to clear a power lines from a road in Albemarle County.

Officials have closed Proffitt after an accident about a half mile west of U.S. Route 29.

The crash knocked over a power line, which is now across the road. The crash knocked out power making one area business close for the night.

"This is our 3- year anniversary, and this is the first time we've had something to actually shut down the school for a whole day," said Wilson School of Dance Owner Juanita Wilson-Duquette."

VDOT officials said Proffitt Road will be shut down for a good portion of the evening as crews make repairs.
