It was the final chance to inspire the base and garner those last minute votes. Both George Allen and Jim Webb kept busy on the campaign trail. Allen began the day in Northern Virginia, moved on to Norfolk, Roanoke and finished with a campaign stop in Richmond. The entire way Allen inspired supporters by highlighting his record as Governor and Senator while downplaying his opponent.

"If someone wants to be a leader, a Senator for the people of Virginia, you need to know the people of Virginia. It is not something you can learn in six weeks on a campaign trail," Allen said.

Webb started his day in Roanoke, went on to Hampton Roads, Richmond, and ended with a rally in Alexandria with former President Bill Clinton. His message was clear, the Commonwealth and the Country needs a change.

"With your help we are going to take the Senate. On Wednesday morning we are going to bring this country back in the direction it needs to go," Webb said.

"The beauty of a close race in either direction is that everyone's vote counts. It's a motivation for voters to get out there on Election Day," said Matt Smyth with the UVa Center for Politics.

Smyth says this race is too close to call. Polls have each candidate in the lead, the deciding factor will be who gets out the vote.

"The poll numbers can really tell you if it is within the margin of error, that it is going to be close. It will come down to who shows up on Election Day," Smyth said.

Both candidates will vote in the morning and sit back and watch the results flow. Both have victory celebrations planned, Allen in Richmond and Webb in Tyson's Corner. Of course, only one will be a victory celebration.
