One family is hoping to turn their house into a New Orleans style restaurant. Some neighbors say the current restaurants are causing too many problems for the neighborhood. The city council will vote on the re-zoning at their next meeting, but they showed their support for the applicants Monday.
"I feel a little bit bad for the property owner, because I think that this property and this project is being used as a whipping boy of sorts for some other issues that are going on in the neighborhood that need to be addressed regardless of what happens tonight with this particular property," said Charlottesville Mayor Dave Norris.
The city's planning commission denied the re-zoning of 814 Hinton Avenue last month.
