Holiday shopping has started and the National Retail Federation is expecting even higher numbers this year.

About 60 percent of people should buy at least one book, CD, DVD, video or video game. Otherwise gift cards, electronics, and food are all big purchases.

Almost half of Americans are expect to buy toys. For boys the TMX Elmo is first followed by cars, and other electronics.

For almost 50 years barbie still ranks number one for girls, but PlayStation 3 is also on their list at number 9.

Advertisers will spend millions of dollars this holiday season, but most people are heavily influenced by word of mouth. If you find a good deal, you can share it with your friends, or keep the secret to yourself.
