The Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Airport got a unique honor Thursday.
The Transportation Security Administration awarded the airport its "Prestigious Partnership Award."
The TSA picked the airport for its outstanding contribution to homeland security. This is the first time the award was given to the airport.
"It shows that we are willing to cooperate, and that we have. It shows that there is a team effort between the TSA, Homeland Security, and the airport," said Bill Pahuta of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Airport.
Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Airport is one of just a handful of airports given the award since it was established by the TSA in 2002.
