Charlottesville Police say they are investigating a rash of cars that were stolen or broken into early Sunday morning.

Investigators say they were tipped off when three people called them all reporting their cars had been stolen from their driveways or off the street. Police say the thefts happened between midnight and 8 a.m. in the Greenbrier neighborhood.

Police say they are looking for a red 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with Virginia license plate ADK-7935. The second car they are looking for is a 2004 white Kia Sedona van with Virginia license plate JJH- 6645. The third car they are looking for is a 2002 white Volvo with Virginia license plate AEC-4027.

Detectives pounded the pavement looking for clues Sunday. But, so far no word yet on who is responsible or why they targeted the Greenbrier neighborhood. Anyone with information is asked to call crime stoppers at 977-4000.
