The scandal surrounding Miss USA is capturing people's attention across the nation.

Donald Trump, the owner of the Miss Universe Organization, announced Tara Conner would continue her reign as Miss USA, and enter alcohol counseling. The decision came after several reports of misconduct were reported. Some in our local pageant community, and shares one title-holder's reaction.

There she is Miss USA Tara Connor behind all the lights on stage in April during her first day as queen. Eight months later, she is still on stage, but in a different light. Conner was accused of under-age drinking and was on the brink of losing her crown.

"I've always been a believer in second chances. I've always been. Tara is a good person," said Miss Universe Organization Owner Donald Trump.

Donald Trump decided the first Miss USA from Kentucky would continue her reign.

"You will never know how much I appreciate Mr. Trump for saving me on this one," said Miss USA 2006 Tara Conner.

Trump says the country girl was caught up in a whirlwind of big city life.

Miss Albemarle County Fair Kelly Cropp understands, but feels no matter what crown, or sash is worn; the queen must live up to the image.

"It's like you are a glass house, and no matter where you are at, no what you are doing, you're still who you are. People still know who you are," said Miss Albemarle County Fair 2006 Kelly Cropp.

Wearing any crown has its advantages. Some title-holders would even say disadvantages depending on how you look at it.

"You signed up to say that you want this lifestyle. You want to live it for the next year, or from now on. Once you take that title on it never leaves you," added Cropp.

Among the titles that will never leave Conner is "Miss USA who had to go to rehab to keep her crown."

Conner just turned 21 years old on December 18, 2006.
