Last June 21 year old Lamont Reaves was shot once in the chest on South 1st Street and died.
The commonwealth says it began with a minor altercation at Wolfe's Bar and that Thurston followed Reaves to Garrett Street.
A video tape showed Thurston holding a gun and Reaves holding a bat. Words were exchanged and Thurston walked away only to find himself backed against a fence on South 1st Street 30 minutes later.
Thurston says he had no choice but to defend himself. The commonwealth disagreed and said that he could have walked away.
The trial had been going on all week and today the jury came back with decision to convict Jermain Thurston of manslaughter. The jury recommended a two year sentence.
