Larry Sabato, the director of the University of Virginia's Center for Politics, says he's expecting fireworks between Republican Bob McDonnell and Democrat Creigh Deeds while they debate in Hot Springs. He says both candidates have been quiet the last month as they raise money, but they will be very tough on policy issues Saturday. Dr. Sabato has advice on reading McDonnell and Deeds.
"You want to get a sense of the candidates," said Sabato. "How do they handle stress? How do they handle pressure? What do they say about their philosophy of governing, which is as important as their positions on specific issues."
Sabato says people can expect to hear about transportation, taxes and dueling endorsements. He also said McDonnell will most likely be the one to bring up health care.
