Property Taxes Could Be Going Up

January 24, 2007

Greene and Orange Counties are among the top of the list after property reassessment numbers were released.

Officials say that one major reason for the increase is the booming real estate market. The trend has been going on for the past 10 years but this time there is a sharp growth, meaning more taxes.

William Frye, a Greene County resident, says "it's been rough, I mean rough. I don't know how the people in Greene are going to be able to take much more of this, it's just steadily going up."

Albemarle County was among those at the bottom of the list with one of the smallest increases this year.
