When winter weather hits, people usually hit the stores to stock up on a few of the necessities.
But there is one item in short supply at Giant Food Stores. Milk.
That is because of a strike by the truckers of the manufacturing company that makes Giant brand milk.
The strike started two weeks ago and the store has been trying to fill the void with Shenandoah Pride brand milk.
But with the winter weather shopping surge adding insult to injury, some spots are still coming up empty.
"There's no milk left," lamented shopper, Paula Klotter. "It's gone."
"I'm looking for a gallon of skim milk and I don't see any," said Carol Walke, after scanning the shelves. "I see gallons of whole milk and that's it. But no skim."
The company, Marva Maid, is in the middle of contract negotiations.
Currently though, we are told, no agreement is in sight.
