A prominent leader with the Monticello Area Community Action Agency stepped down Thursday Morning.

Robert Smith who is MACAA's board president announced that MACAA's Executive Director, Phillip Dukes is no longer working for the agency.

MACAA officials say the decision for Dukes to step down was "an agreement between the board and the executive director."

They also say the organization is seeking new leadership to direct them into a new direction.

"While we're going through this adjustment period ,I have every confidence that we will continue moving forward, that we will continue filling our mission and that we'll go on to do bigger and better things," said Connie Jorgensen, with MACAA.
