This morning several buildings near the White House were evacuated after a suspicious vehicle was reported to authorities.
A bomb sniffing dog was alerted to a vehicle parked outside the Layfayette Park around 9:30 this morning. The park is just north of the White House.
Kimberly Bruce, a secret service spokeswoman, says that the vehicle was checked out and found to have proper authorization to enter the White House complex around 10:15 am this morning.
The vehicle was parked between the intersection of Jackson Place and "H" Street, which is one block north of the White House.
The White House Media Conference Center was among the buildings that were evacuated.
Activities inside the White House were not affected, except for media crews that had been removed from the north lawn of the White House.
